Methodology

How we verify an email address.

No verifier can promise 100% accuracy, and we don't. Here is exactly what happens when you check an address, where the limits are, and how to measure results yourself.

No monthly subscription · Credits never expire · Unknown results use no credits

The checks, in order

  • Syntax: is the address correctly formatted?
  • Domain: does the domain exist in DNS?
  • Mail server: does the domain publish MX records that accept mail?
  • Mailbox: does the receiving server confirm the mailbox exists and isn't full? No email is sent
  • Catch-all and greylisting: does the server accept every address, or delay the answer?
  • Risk flags: disposable domain, role account, free provider, likely typo, blocklists and known complainers

Why some results are Unknown

Some mail servers accept every address (catch-all), temporarily delay unfamiliar senders (greylisting) or simply don't answer. In those cases we return Unknown with the reason rather than labelling the address Passed or Failed. Unknown results use no credits, so you never pay for an inconclusive answer.

How to test accuracy yourself

  • Build a sample of addresses where you already know the outcome, such as recent hard bounces and recently engaged contacts
  • Run the same sample through each tool you're comparing
  • Compare how many known-good addresses passed, how many known-bad addresses failed, and how many came back Unknown
  • Check the reasons, not just the labels

What we don't claim

We don't publish accuracy percentages, because they depend heavily on the list being tested. We also make no compliance certification claims. Verification lowers bounce risk; it doesn't guarantee inbox placement, consent or future deliverability.

Frequently asked questions

What results does EasyMailVerify return?

Every address gets Passed, Failed or Unknown, plus a result code such as deliverable, mailbox_not_found or catch_all, a plain-language reason and risk flags like disposable or role account.

Is EasyMailVerify 100% accurate?

No email verifier can honestly promise that. EasyMailVerify returns Unknown when a server won't give a clear answer, instead of guessing.

Can a Passed address still bounce later?

Yes. A result reflects the moment of the check, and mailboxes can be closed or fill up afterwards. Re-check lists that haven't been mailed recently.
