Guide
Email verification before a campaign: a pre-send checklist.
The days before a campaign are the best time to verify. A quick check now prevents bounces later.

Why verify right before sending
Verification is a snapshot. The closer it is to your send date, the more accurate it reflects your list. Verifying a list from six months ago won't catch addresses that closed last week.
This matters most for re-engagement campaigns and large launches, where you're mailing contacts who haven't heard from you in a while.
Pre-send checklist
- Verify the full send list
- Remove Failed results
- Segment Unknown results into a separate batch
- Check that authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) is set up in your sending platform
- Send to your most engaged segment first
- Monitor bounces and complaints after the first batch
Handling Unknown results
Send Unknown addresses after your main send, in a smaller batch. If that batch bounces heavily, remove the rest.
What MailGuard can help with
- Checking single addresses or bulk CSV/TXT lists before a campaign
- Sorting each address into Passed, Failed, or Unknown, with a plain-language reason
- Flagging disposable domains, role accounts, syntax issues, and catch-all behavior
- Exporting a filtered list that contains only the results you choose
- Paying only for Passed and Failed results, since Unknown results use no credits
Limitations
Verification reduces uncertainty before sending. It does not guarantee inbox placement and does not replace consent or list hygiene.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I verify?
Within a few days of sending is ideal. Within a week is fine for most lists.
Do I need to verify every campaign?
Not for active lists you mail weekly. Do it for lists that are older, imported, or rarely mailed.
